Position the program as part of your practice’s standard of care.
Physician buy-in is critical to success. Remind them to check in with staff about enrolling patients.
Work with the practice manager to remind both clinicians and admin staff of the advantages of the program. Together, engage a coordinator on the front lines to be your partner and program champion.
Focus on the program’s benefits, such as increased efficiency resulting from a reduction in the number of questions from patients.
Concentrate on affiliated and employed practices that you are most likely to influence.
Set specific goals for each practice, such as 15 new sign-ups per month.
Use an incentive—a paid-for breakfast, for example—for the practice that generates the most sign-ups. Other ways to appreciate staff who are doing a good job include email shoutouts to physicians and other practice leaders and recognition in department newsletters.
Look at the data regularly. If there is a drop-off in enrollment from a particular practice, try to figure out why. Maybe a key person left the practice.
Put the sign-up icon on your website in multiple places. Different spots jump out to different people.
Review any custom questions that you are asking as part of the sign-up process. Too many questions can be a barrier.
